Construction Safety Coordinators
Required Credentials:
CSP, CIH or CHST

Responsibilities:
To assure a work environment
that allows PEC and a group of construction subcontractors to meet the project
mission and maintain a safe work environment. The individuals hired for these
positions shall provide management and technical oversight and support for the
development and implementation of project-specific safety plans, as well as the
ongoing operation of those plans.
- Perform
safety-related inspections on capital projects to evaluate and ensure
subcontractors’ conformance and compliance with a site safety plan and OSHA
regulations.
- Identify and
document subcontractors’ non-compliance and non-conformance and recommend the
necessary corrective actions to ensure 100% compliance and conformance.
- Monitor
safety performance of construction subcontractors, to include but not limited
to:
- Risk
assessments

Project-specific hazard analyses
-
Task-specific hazard analyses
- Corrective
actions
- Compliance
with OSHA regulations and conformance to site safety plans
- Incident
investigation
- Safety
metrics and reporting
- Safety
scheduling
- Participate
in project safety planning and development of project-specific requirements.
- Participate
in project status meetings.
- Review
subcontractors’ project safety.
Requirements:
- A minimum of
8 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
- Professional
credentials are required: CSP, CIH or CHST.
- Thorough
knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Excellent
written and verbal skills in the English language.

Computer-literate in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- A degree in a safety- or engineering-related discipline is a
plus.
- Site access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S.
citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security
clearance. The candidate’s written
consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of obtaining a security
clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
- Ongoing
reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances will be conducted as
a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites.
