Position:          Industrial Hygienist

Location:        NASA Goddard Space Flight Center(GSFC)

                        Greenbelt, MD

Job Description: The primary objective of the Industrial Hygiene program is to assure a work environment that allows GSFC to meet its mission and maintain a safe work environment for its people. The individual who will be hired for this position shall provide technical support in the following areas by:

· Conducting comprehensive industrial hygiene surveys

· Conducting indoor air quality and mold assessments

· Managing a respiratory protection program, provide training and fit tests

· Managing a hearing conservation program and provide training

· Evaluating operations to determine appropriate personal protective equipment

· Performing ergonomic assessments

· Performing personal or area air and bulk sampling

· Reviewing renovation, construction and demolition plans and provide recommendations regarding the presence of asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing paint and chemicals to be used.

Education / Skills:

• B.S. in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related science or engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience, preferably in government, laboratory, research and development or manufacturing performing environmental health and safety activities.
• Familiar in the use of industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
• Experience in radiation safety is desired but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal skills in the english language.
• Computer-literate in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
• Certification or active pursuit of certification highly desirable but not required.
• Must be able to perform required job functions while wearing personal protective equipment, including air-purifying respirator.
