Located in Germantown, Maryland Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC) is a technical services business focused on providing Project Management and specialized consulting and training services in the areas of nuclear safety, worker safety and health, security, quality assurance, environment as well as materials and facilities disposition within the DOE and commercial power industry.

Employment Position: Senior Communications Specialist - Full-time

Location(s): Washington, DC

Responsibilities:

  • Moderating communications throughout organizations.
  • Follow analyze and execute communications to ensure messages are consistent with the overall brand meet standards to maintain and promote the positive image on behalf of an organization.
  • Managing internal and external messaging throughout organizations including public relations, media relations and community relations ensuring adequate and appropriate messaging.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure messaging is projected to organizational standards, throughout all possible resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA or BS required, preferably in communications, with 10-15 years of experience in communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be available to work in DC.
  • Must be customer service oriented, experienced in interacting directly with clients.
  • Experienced in researching issues and collecting data from various data bases for the development of summary reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and display complex data in a more functional way.
  • Ability to participate in meetings.
  • Must Possess good analytical capabilities.
  • Must possess good written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex directions/instructions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of rules and regulations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Power Point, Excel.
  • Willingness to work in an environment that changes rapidly and requires occasional long hours.
  • Must be a detailed-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for a DOE security clearance and Building Access badge.
  • Site access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of obtaining a security clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
  • A pre-employment test for the absence of any illegal substances will be required. Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of illegal substances may also be conducted for continued access to client sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation.
  • Self-directed and able to define and achieve goals with little supervision.
  • Database proficiency.
