Employment Position: Security Specialist - Full-Time

Location: Washington DC

This position is for a mid-level Security Specialist to assist NA-40 in maintaining its security responsibilities – administrative, alternative EOC support, ECN support, SCIF support, assessments, and issues tracking. The Security Specialist will be directly supporting Mr. Robert Bryk and must be located at the Forrestal Building. This statement of work is being developed to support security activities associated with the Office of Emergency Operations. These actions primarily consist of developing paperwork, initiating account requests, reviewing paperwork, conducting self-assessments, and maintaining, tracking, and following up on actions until completed for the NA-40 HSO, ISSM, SSO, and ISSO to support the day-to-day management of the security program.

Responsibilities:

  • Track all security-related Corrective Action Plans for NA-40 facilities in Washington DC.
  • Track all security infractions/incidents for NA-40 personnel.
  • Support the NA-40 Classification Representative and the larger Classified Matter Protection and Control Program.
  • Support the NA-40 representative for the OPSEC / TSCM / TEMPEST programs.
  • Support the NA-40 HSO for all safe moves / relocations/combinations changes.
  • Submit to the NA-40 HSO access list changes to designated NA-40 facilities and office spaces.
  • Support the NA-40 HSO for all security alarm testing / Preventive Maintenance requests designated NA-40 facilities and office spaces.
  • Support the NA-40 ISSO for all after-hours security alarm notifications.
  • Submit to the NA-40 HSO quarterly reports for the Counterintelligence Evaluation Program (CIEP).
  • Initiate account actions for ECN, SCAT, NSN, and NESAN.
  • Initiate account actions for HAL for NA-40 / NA-80 / other NNSA personnel as needed.
  • Develop and maintain security plans for digital copiers and fax machines in designated NA-40 facilities and office spaces.
  • Review baseline security configurations and security plans and develop applicable Common Controls documentation.
  • Support and maintain the ECN Security Calendar for yearly activities.
  • Support and track annual training requirements for all ECN normal users/privileged users/managers.
  • Serve as an Alternate ISSO for the ECN.
  • Support annual self-assessments for NA-40 facilities and office spaces.
  • Research various multidisciplinary organizations and topics and apply that research to our client’s needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or BA from an accredited university with 3+ years of experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active Q Clearance required.
  • Must meet minimal security training and awareness for NA-40 personnel.
  • Must meet minimal security training and awareness for SCIF personnel
  • Skilled in the use of databases and spreadsheets; comfortable extrapolating information from multiple databases and generating reports on the results.
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills in the creation of documents, plans, and procedures.
  • Willingness to work directly with clients in an environment that changes rapidly; must possess a mature approach to the personal interactions between a consultant and the client.
  • Must be an independent, self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask and be comfortable working with a team of technical experts in varying fields of scientific and engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced word processing using Microsoft Word, as well as, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers.
  • DOE site access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of obtaining a security clearance may be required as a condition of employment.
  • Certain positions requiring a security clearance may require the periodic successful completion of a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
  • Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances may be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests may be required as a condition of employment.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the ECN, alternative EOC, and SCIF support.
  • Experience in the DOE Complex a plus.
