Getachew manages consulting and support activities in the areas of quality assurance, nuclear services program support,
environmental services program support, information technology, and other technical support services. He is responsible
for ensuring that PEC and its subcontractors and consultants deliver complete, accurate, timely, and efficient products
and services to clients.
Getachew holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering and has over 30 years of broad technical and project / program management experience in
engineering services as well as software development for a diverse set of clients in the government and the private sector.
Prior to his tenure at PEC, Getachew served as Vice President of the Commercial Division
at an IT solutions company delivering process reengineering and automating solutions for large insurance and
other financial institutions. Further back, he served as Senior Principal Engineer at an international engineering
firm serving the nuclear industry, and at engineering consulting organizations conducting and managing engineering
studies, process evaluations, radiation software development, and specialized Research and Development. He has been credited with a
number of specialized studies for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI); he provided a broad range of support to TMI-2
cleanup effort (data analysis, characterization, technical briefs, and defueling planning support); and he participated in the design,
development, and management of industry-standard radiation / radwaste analysis software and training services
(e.g., MicroShield, RadDecay). He has developed and conducted training workshops in radiation analysis for
nuclear utilities as well as national laboratories in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Continental Europe.
